Coaching service
For many years, law firms have transformed themselves and must again face new challenges, notably
in terms of managing human resources and management. The methods and tools of the past are no
longer appropriate and a large number of firms have radically changed their practices and started
using new techniques. Coaching is one such technique.
What is coaching ?
Coaching is an accompanying technique which prioritises the realisation of objectives and problem
solving in the professional environment. It provides a secure and confidential setting, within which
the ‘coachee’ can detach themselves and take a step back from the situation. Coaching helps in
the personal and professional development of the ‘coachee’, which in turn allows them to respond
independently to problems which they face.
What is the difference between coaching, advice and training ?
Whilst the consultant provides an advisory service based on his expertise, similarly to a lawyer in fact,
the trainer teaches the body of knowledge and the know-how, the coach will focus mainly on speech
and self assurance which permits the ‘coachee’ to develop and face difficulties in an independent
manner using the skills in his arsenal.
How does a coaching session work ?
According to the requirements of the client, which will obviously make up the contract-which will
also include the objectives of the coaching and any confidential issues, a coaching series can last for
between 3 and 10 sessions of between 1 and a half and 2 hours.
Each session will also be subject to a ‘session contract’. Through active listening and questioning, the
coach gives guidance and help to the ‘coachee’ and to assist them and help them to achieve the goals
which they have set. In doing so he is an expert in interpersonal relations and those which surround
the question ‘how?’ Beyond this process, he plays the role of ‘reducing the volume’, which allows
him to find answers to the question ‘why?’
